Types of Wildfires
There are 3 types of wildfires, Ground Fires, Bushfires and Crown Fires.
Ground Fires, that are also called bog fires, are slow spreading, smouldering fires that burn in dried, decomposed leaves, twigs or pine needles that have fallen on the ground.
Bushfires are fast moving fires that ignite marsh grass (cattails), grain fields, scrub oak, chaparral, grass, shrubs and bush.
Crown Fires. Most crown fires are caused by the vertical spread of flames of a bush fire. They are also usually high up in the trees.
